Achievements:
Delta was shown by co-owner Nancy Boggs Heinold,DVM and professional handler, Ann Keil. Nancy put the majors on her and most of the points. Delta was sent to Nancy’s sister Diana Boggs to raise. I always got the phone calls from Diana saying she was ” athletically gifted”.Well she was right. Delta can climb small buildings with a single bound. While at a professional field trial trainer she acquired Ehrlichiosis. The local veterinarian could not diagnose the high fever and diarrhea by the usual methods. He decided to do an exploratory laporotomy and the disease was NOT properly identified. This, after a blood panel with a indication of chronic disease was discounted by regular DVM as to ruling in that it could be ehrlichia. Delta restarted treatment by Dr. Nancy at a field trial, the following weekend with the kind help of Rhoda Ezell and Clara Kayser’s trip to her veterinarian for requested supplies. In the preceeding months to the field trial, on VTalk@yahoogroups.com Julia Bonar brought up that some dogs on the East coast, in particular Maryland, had contracted ehrlichia. I brought her home from Kentucky to Michigan and finished treating her. Her high fever declined and appetite/weight loss rebounded immediately with doxycycline.She gained her weight back from a scary #28 pounds and she was able to be shown to her Championship and whelp two litters. In 2001 Delta was hit by car in Kansas where she was being trained for gundog stakes and nearly died again. Delta is in love with fetching in the cold Lake Superior (summer vacation) and she chooses to not notice the extra cold from that metal in her legs. Delta lives an athletically gifted life at its fullest. Delta was bred to Hubertus South Pacific(import Australia) and the cross worked well for us. Their titled off- spring are Ch. Paradox Final Anwser,MH (Regis) and Ch. Paradox red Violin,JH (Shelly). Regis also has a Prize I in Natural Ability in NAVHDA events. A couple years after her auto accident I finished her Junior Hunt test title in 4 passes.She had to run after her daughter so she needed a good nose to find what Shelly left in the field. In old age, her hobbies are swimming in her backyard pool (a horse water trough) and rescuing her toys from the bottom of her pool. She is affectionately called the “Mayor of Mudsville” and has her very own two-legged fan club. UPDATE: Delta passed away from old age in June 2013 at 16.5 years of age.
